Goosebumps "Inky-Rain" Technique

The entire month of June Altered Pages DT will be featuring products from IMAGINE Crafts/Tsukineko.  I'm pretty excited because I've used and loved their products for quite some time.  I was thrilled to see all of the wonderful goodies they sent to us to play with and incorporate into our art.

Of course I started to play immediately and I stumbled upon this by accident...a happy accident.  You all know how I like to experiment ~ well I was just playing one day and by chance I mixed a rainbow ink pad and Goosebumps Texture Spray and made "Inky-Rain"!

Check it out.....

I started off with a Kaleidacolor ink pad - this one happens to be Tahiti...one I've had in my stash a while.

This has nothing to do with the technique but this pad is wicked cool...there is a little slider that holds the ink pads apart when not in use...

Slide the mechanism and the ink pads move together ready to use!  I love that ~ it keeps the inks from migrating into each other.  Let me tell you it's a inkpad saver ~ I have had several multi-color ink pads turn into mud over time because the inks gradually mix and get yucky.

O.k....back to the technique.  Now that the inks are together ink up your brayer and roll it onto your paper.

TIP: Don't leave a rubber band on a soft roller for an extended period of time....you'll see why below....

See what I mean...even when you remove the rubber band the impression stays behind <slapping my forehead!!!>     O.k...I had to add more ink to help cover my messed up brayer.

Next I took my Goosebumps Texture Spray (while the inks were still wet) and sprayed the heck out of it.

Let it set for about 10 seconds or so to soak into the ink.

Then tilt the paper on it's side...tap it against your work surface if you're impatient (like me) or you want more "Inky-Rain" to fall.

 I love how this looks...
I had to let it dry so I still need to make a card with it but it's a good start :)

Don't ya love it when you stumble upon something fun like that?

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!!

Rubber Stamp Chat's Spring Virtual Convention!

Are you a member of the Rubber Stamp Chat Forum?  If not you may want to join soon.  Their annual Spring Virtual Rubber Stamp Convention starts today and runs through Monday!

Never been to a "virtual" convention before?  I hadn't either until I joined their forum but it's great!  Basically it's a group of smaller rubber stamp companies that usually get overshadowed by the big guys who got together to share their products with us all.  During this convention they offer really great deals ~ could be a % off their stamps, reduced or free shipping, specials (like $ 0.25 stamps) and more!  It is a perfect time to check out stamps you may not know you needed ;) Best part is...no sore feet from walking all day!

I've "attended" many times and I've always been extremely happy with all of the stamps I've bought.  It's great to get stamps you've wanted at a super discount!

Club Scrap Dungarees Blog Hop!

It's time for another fun Club Scrap Blog Hop...
and this time we're celebrating the

Very Americana and I love it!

I was so excited about this kit...I know I say that every time but it's true, but I LOVE the colors of this kit and hey who doesn't love their jeans?  I did have a bit of trouble deciding on what to make though.  I had several ideas pop into my head but didn't have enough time or kit to make all of them - LOL!!  Soooo, I narrowed it down to a couple that all fit together as one.  Are you confused now?  Well if you tuned in yesterday you know that it's got something to do with a cigar box...

Did any of you guess what I was making???

I bet you didn't guess this....

A Dungarees Vintage Suitcase!!!

The outside of the case is covered with the denim print pattern paper on all sides except the bottom (you'll see that below).  I originally was only going to add the black tape (which comes from a VERY old Club Scrap kit - Extra! Extra!) to the edge of the box lid but it looked so good I used it to cover all of the edges.  I made a double sided luggage tag  (see the photo above & below) then added a handle made from some suede paper scraps from the Equestrian kit and a bit of burlap & buckles.

Here are few more views....

Bottom - complete with little brass feet!

Inside I lined the suit case with the red and brown prints.   And what good is a suitcase if you don't fill it with something?  So, I made some cards to fill it up!  The small blue box is just an extra little compartment to keep writing essentials like pens, stamps, paper clips or whatever else you want to take along with you.  This also answers Club Scraps National Scrapbook Month Challenge #2 - Find something from the Club Scrap Creates Blog that inspires you and use it in your own art work.  Well, I was inspired by Julie's Envelope Punch Board Shadow Box Book.  Since I didn't have a punch board I used my Scor-Pal instead!  I think it finishes off this little piece of luggage quite nicely.

And here are the cards I made to tuck inside....

I didn't forget about my Gnomie pal...this month he's grown a bit though!  I dressed him up in his own pair of overalls....

And it just so happens there was a perfect sentiment to go along with him....

That's all I have for you this month...
I hope you've found and take a bit of inspiration away with you.

You're next stop on the Dungaree's tour is

Remember if you get lost along the way the complete list can be found at

Have a wonderful day!!

Club Scrap Blog Hop Tomorrow...

Yes, it's that time of the month already...time for the Club Scrap Blog Hop tomorrow!  I'm very excited...I have a fun project to share, I can't wait!

Here are a few sneak peek photos to whet your appetite :)

Would anyone care to venture a guess on what it might be?!?!?
Yes, it started out life as a cigar box but what will it end up being???
You'll just have to come back tomorrow to see what I have created!

3 Day Weekends...

I don't know about you but when I get back to "work" after a 3 day weekend I always feel like I've been put though the wringer - LOL!!

First off let me say I hope you all had a wonderful weekend (here in the USA) with your families and that you were able to pay honor to a military person or two...if it weren't for them we wouldn't be afforded all of the wonderful opportunities we have as a member of the United States!  My little contribution was to cook at the family bar-b-que...normally my dad cooks for us all but Mom asked if I'd do it this year and of course I said yes.  I think this is the first time I can remember that Dad hasn't had to cook while we all were eating (to get 'em while they were hot that is).   He was able to relax and eat and chit chat it up.  :)

It's also a busy time here on the farm as well...dh and the guys made hay, sprayed that field and planted beans.  They are as I type out plowing the very field up to plant beans in it....  Here's a picture I took just a bit ago....  Dh is on the front tractor and youngest ds is on the far tractor.

They also went and picked up a couple "new to us" tractors.  The boys traded a few off of their tractors to a guy and got 2 different ones.  An Allis-Chalmers D-15 and a Case (which ds is driving in the above photo).  I got to drive one and here's the proof ....fun fun!

And I promised I would take a few Springtime "around the farm" photos for a few people so I took those this weekend as well...

On top of all that we had to replace our water heater this weekend...it quit working on Sunday a.m. so dh spent about half the day removing, installing, re-pluming and stopping leaks!  Ick...not fun but it's done so we shouldn't have to worry about that again for a while.

Passport to Fun Winners!!

I hope everyone is having a good weekend!

I have the winners of the Passport To Fun mini envelope albums....

They are....

Linda DesGroseilliers

I started an envelope album - key word "started". I have vintage images set aside to use, now I just need to do it! I used my Envelope Punch Board from We R Memory Keepers to make my envelopes. I like that I'm not limited to the sizes of pre-made envelopes. I didn't think I needed the Board, but I'm finding that I use it a lot. It's really handy for these albums. Thanks for the chance to win one of yours. They're beautiful!!

and

Ruby Wilkes

Great albums, I would love to win one but wouldn't mind trying to make one too.

Congratulations!!!
Please e-mail me your snail mail addies so I can get your albums out to you on Tuesday.

Steampunk Altered Trading Block Tower

I don't know if you've been following along or not but this month on the Altered Pages Blog we've paired up with Artists on the Block and Eileen Hull to share a wide variety of Altered Trading Blocks.

I wanted to make a Steampunk block and I sort of got carried away...
I ended up with a tower of 3 blocks instead of just one.
Check it out....

And here are each of the blocks....

The top ~ Steampunk Machines - Enjoy the Ride

The Center block hosts The Inventor and Dreamer along with a few of Frankenstein's Experiments.

This little caged winged clock is hidden between the center and bottom block...

And for the bottom block I took apart a glassine envelope that I inked up with a bit of Staz-On ink the glued onto the block.  It's topped with a bit of guilders paste over the bumps.

And here are the images from the bottom block... The Queen of Steam and The Commander.

I had such fun thinking of fun putting this all together.
Once I got the idea it was like an obsession to finish it!
Do you ever get ideas like that?
It's so exciting when your vision comes to life and even more so when it turns out better than you envisioned it.

For a complete list of supplies and links to those supplies please  see

Hope you enjoy and have a Steamy Day!!

Vintage Baby Bottle Sterilizer - Colored Pencil Organizer!

I know some people think I'm nuts because I like to organize things.  I think I've got a touch of CDO (OCD with the letters in alpha order) because there are just somethings that have to be a certain way.  I have to have my colors organized by ROY G BIV - paper, cloths, pens, etc., I have to have certain things alphabetized and there's a bunch more stuff but that's for another day...

Anyway, my oldest ds bought me the new Spectrum Noir colored pencils for Mother's Day...o.k....he doesn't know he did but he gave me some $'s and told me to buy what I wanted so I did - LOL!!  They arrived on Monday and I tell you what all of the colors in the sets were mixed up!  I know that's because each set was designed for a specific purpose but dang I opened them up and whew...drove me nuts so I knew I had to do something with em.

So, let's roll the clock back to last summer... Youngest DS, his fiance and I were at an auction that had all of this wicked cool old stuff.  In one of the boxes was a really great vintage wire baby bottle sterilizer...that still had some of the glass bottles in it!  Well, I knew I had to have it...not just because of that but they were selling in lots by that time and there was some really great junk in the lot ;)  So I bid and won ~ got the whole pile for $5.00 -  Yeah!!!  Fast forward to yesterday...I happened to think that it would be perfect to hold my pencils if I could figure out how to keep the pencils from falling out the bottom.

I worked on this last night and just finished it up a bit ago and I LOVE it!!!  It's now sittin' pretty on my shelf by my computer.

Here's what I did.  I used some foam that was from some "thing" I bought many years ago (don't throw anything good like that away - you'll need it someday!).  I had to cut it in two pieces for a couple reasons - one so it was easier to slip into the sterilizer and two because the foam I had only went a little more than half way across the organizer.    I traced the outside of the organizer on the foam then I traced along the inside as well to get my semi-circle.  Cut it out and it worked!  Bottom taken care of...

Next came the cup parts.  The wire was too low and let the pencils fall over so much I thought it would spill out easily so I dug through my packing material and came up with a few pieces of clear plastic.  I cut them to size, taped the ends together and made little circle inserts for each section.  You'll notice there are 2 that are cardboard....I ran out of packing material that was long enough so I'll be on the look out for some to replace the cardboard ones in the future.

I sorted all my pencils and it's done!

I love how nice it looks all for less than a $1.00!!!
Sure beats a 40.00 - 80.00 store bought organizer.

I have something special in store for tomorrow...
I have a way cool Steampunk Altered Trading Block project to share with you that was possible because of a great pairing of Altered Pages Design Team and the Artists on the Block blog!
